Every year, the DKTK Munich site announces the Wilko Weichert Grant for an interdisciplinary, cross-Isar project that promotes young talent. In the 2025 call for proposals, the project “Investigation of therapy-induced changes in the vascular system in glioblastomas using in situ sequencing” impressed the review panel. As the recipient of the 3rd Wilko Weichert Grant, Dr. Johannes Wirth (postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of General Pathology and Pathological Anatomy, TUM) will receive €30,000 in funding for his scientific research in 2026.
The grant is awarded in memory of Prof. Wilko Weichert, who was the site spokesperson for the Munich partner site at the German Consortium for Translational Cancer Research (DKTK) and director of the Institute of General Pathology and Pathological Anatomy at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) until 2023. It is, therefore, all the more gratifying that the award has now returned to Prof. Weichert's former place of work this year.
