The BMFTR-funded collaborative project 6G-life2 will drive cutting-edge research for 6G communication networks. As a consistent further development of today's 4G and 5G mobile communication standards, 6G offers new approaches to sustainability, security, resilience and latency and will strengthen the economy and thus digital sovereignty in Germany. The focus of 6G is on human-machine collaboration, creating the ideal conditions for healthcare applications. At the TUM Universityhospital medical use cases are being researched with the goal of integrating innovative 6G network concepts.
In the first phase of the project, a new structure was designed and a test bed was set up in collaboration with the Chair of Communication Networks at TUM so that Modular Application Functions (MAFs) can be processed optimally in the network. Functions from the two use cases semiautonomous telerobotic examination suite and context-sensitive medical environment were computed within the network.
In 6G-life2, this testbed will be further expanded and new applications explored in order to create significant added value for clinical staff and patients in the future.
